SATURDAY MORNING HAD BREAKFAST AND THEN WENT TO PARK. WATCHING THE CAMP SET UP AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO PARTICIPATE WAS VERY EDUCATIONAL , THE AUTHENTIC CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT. AND THE METHODS OF DOING THINGS BACK THEN WAS VERY INTERESTING. THE BATTLE WAS A RE-ENACTMENT OF THE BATTLE OF CEDER CREEK IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA 1863. WATCHED IT FROM THE UNION SIDE OF BATTLE THIS TIME, NEXT YEAR I WILL WATCH FROM THE CONFEDERATE SIDE OF BATTLE NEXT YEAR. THIS IS THE LARGEST RE-ENACTMENT WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI OVER 1800 PARTICIPANTS .

ROLLING DOWN THE ROAD

Went to Roanert Park and had dinner with my daughter Teresa and her husband Morgan friday night. We went to a small Indian Restaurant food was excellent even though I was late, I took wrong turn and got lost.
After dinner Morgan showed me how to use my new digital camera. Camera was birthday present to myself, also a business expense as camera can be used to document findings on Termite reports. Next morning headed back to bay area, took off on side road towards Guarneville, on sweetwater springs road. Ended up on Russian river road and followed the Russian River to its mouth at Jenner. Spectacular scenery, beautiful river valley, spectacular fall colors, trees were all changing colors. Very rugged coastline.
Watched all the seals and sea lions along with flocks of brown Pelicans at the mouth of the river.
Turned south towards Bodega bay, fantastic views all the way to Bodega. Cute little towns and shops every couple of miles. Mad at myself because I forgot my California Road atlas, took wrong turn ended up in Petaluma, wanted to follow the coast back. Next time I am going to go north instead and take Hwy 1 all the way to Fort Bragg. All in all a nice quiet weekend

EAGLE MOUNTAIN CASINO

I was here once before a couple of years ago, it has expanded quite bit since I was here last time
but it is still a dumpy dusty dump. Parking lots are still gravel, road in is terrible, place is poorly marked and hard to find. Its supposed to have a restaurant but I have yet to find it. They sell a t-shirt in the souvenir shop that says "I survived the road to eagle mtn, they are not kidding, this is the worst access to any casino Ive been to in Ca. And its not worth the effort. Area around casino is full of junk cars and run down shacks.

Week end in L.A.

Spent the weekend in LA with my daughters and my Granddaughter Miss Viv. Went to Santa Monica Friday evening, wandered through shops and sights, had excellent dinner at Italian restaurant. Saturday went with the girls while they had their hair done, nice little village about mile from Sara's. Fascinating people watching, everything from overage pony tailed hippies to S/Cal
yuppies with sweater around neck, deck shoes, no socks. Very cosmopolitan. Every color, every race, every size. Mostly upper middle class, but the variety in one little village. I can see why Sara
loves living in LA. Me it is a great place to visit. Saturday night went to the Grove and Farmers Market. Sunday morning went to Pasadena City College for monthly flee market, its huge, and unlike our flee market in San Jose which is larger almost all of the stalls were private parties, in San Jose most of the stalls are there year round. You can find almost anything under the sun there. Was fun but tiring Viv slept through the whole thing. Fun and interesting week end.
Will have to do again real soon.

Oroville Casinos

Big country and Feather Falls

Big country just opened new Hotel Casino last year, big ,clean, food fair, lots of machines. Great place for people watchers. Have seen some of the ugliest women and men I my life here. Strait out of Deliverance. Also some fine looking people. Good parking and valet service. Oroville nice little town, good motels, good food, nice park on River. Feather Falls older of two Casinos, crowded, always giving a car or boat away. Food good, snack bar has great Polish and Hot dogs. Buffet pretty good for Indian casino. Casinos are only a couple miles apart so you have a choice. Like Big country best, just feel more comfortable there.

SOBOBA CASINO.
BIG SPRAWLING PLACE, OLD FASHIONED INDIAN CASINO, STILL IN WHITE TENT MODE, LOTS OF MACHINES, SNACK BAR. FUN PLACE . GREAT PLACE FOR PEOPLE WATCHING. ACCESSIBLE, VALET PARKING QUICK AND EASY. AREA AROUND IT GROWING IN LEAPS AND BOUNDS.

TRUMP 29 CASINO

DUMPY PLACE, LOOKS RUNDOWN, DIRTY. REMINDS ME OF AN OLD COFFEE SHOP
RESTAURANT , PARKING LOT FULL OF POTHOLES, INTERIOR SEEDY, NOT A PLACE I WILL GO BACK TO.

PECHANGA CASINO

TEMECULA, CA. HUGE FLASHY PLACE, REMINDS ME VERY MUCH OF ONE OF THE NEW STATION CASINOS IN VEGAS. INSIDE CLEAN WELL LIGHTED. SERVICE IS GOOD
LOTS OF MACHINES, GIFT SHOP, SEVERAL RESTAURANTS, FREE VALET PARKING. LARGE HOTEL ALL THE AMENITIES.

SPA RESORT CASINO

PALM SPRINGS, ONE BLOCK FROM DOWNTOWN, CLEAN WELL LIGHTED, LOTS OF MACHINES. RESTAURANTS, SNACK BAR. RIGHT DOWN TOWN. I LIKE IT.

AGUA CALIENTE CASINO

Palace casino, Lemoore

Big place, new casino still looks seedy and slightly dirty. Always crowded. Located about 15 miles west of Visalia, set out in the middle of the valley. Never had much luck here, strange layout. Appears to have been added onto several times. Must have started out as a bingo parlor. Not a place I would recommend.

Chukchansi

Forty miles east of Fresno. Huge place, very much like Texas station or Boulder station in Vegas. Clean, food good, not outstanding. Well set up. Lots of slots, table games and poker. Outstanding hotel, rooms very nice. Snack bar, bakery very good.
Always adding on, two lane road from Fresno, well patrolled, roads in good shape.

Mono Wind

Twenty miles south east of Chuckchansi, small out of the way casino, bingo parlor
Hard to find. Mostly slots , not a lot of them.

Table Mountain

Twenty miles west of Chuckchansi. Much larger casino than Mono, older than Chuckchansi. Crowded, mostly slots, older crowd. Never impressed me much
been there twice. In no hurry to go back.

JACKSON CASINO

Jackson Casino

About 2 1/2 hours from home, big casino, clean, food fair, feels like a vegas casino. Lots of people, all age groups. Lots of family's. Stop here mostly because its on the way to my favorite fishing areas, Caple Lake, Tahoe, Echo Lake. Place has really grown in last few years. The indians have used the money to build new homes, medical dental center, and rebuilt the infrastructure of the rancheria. Roads, drainage and other improvements. Place is always crowded, clean, pleasant
Easy access, well lighted. New food court added, mexican, italian, bbq, japanese.
Has late night grill, hot dogs, burgers, or breakfast. Pretty good place. Nearby Jackson fun place to shop, has the biggest and best used book store Ive ever seen.

OPEN ROAD 11

Somebody suggested I review from my viewpoint the casinos in ca. Ive been to so here s the first and closest to home. Chicken ranch in Jamestown.

Small, basically a bingo parlor with some slot machines at one end. But great for watching people, all kinds, from bikers to seniors. The one thing most Indian casinos have in common is bad food. This place has a snack bar, grill, reminds me most of the old drive in movie snack bars. Cardboard and wax paper. The other thing common to almost all Indian casinos most of the patrons are over 50. Only about 200 slot machines in place. There are only 4 of the Game king, 4 card keno machines which are my favorite . If they are in use and don't look like one will be free
soon. I will some times drive over to the Black Oak in Toulumne. They have 11 of my machines
and some others I like. Food at Black Oak much better, this is a much larger casino and newer
more like a medium Reno or Vegas casino. What I like most about them is they are only about 2 hours from home and the people watching is facinating

OPEN ROAD

WENT FOR A TRIP YESTERDAY, TRIED TO STAY OFF HIGHWAYS. LEFT TRACY DOWN GRANTLINE RD. INSTEAD OF GOING UP ONTO HWY 5 WENT ON CROSS COUNTRY. DOWN BY THE SAN JUAQUIN RIVER. TOOK KASSON RD ABOUT 10 MILES SOUTH.
SAW AN INTERESTING THING, A LARGE FARM ALONG RD, FOR ABOUT A MILE BETWEEN FIELDS OR PASTURES THERE WAS AN OPEN SPACE IN WHICH OLD CARS, TRUCKS, FARM EQUIPMENT, AND OTHER OLD MACHINERY WERE LEFT. THERE WERE VEHICLES FROM THE 1920'S TO THE 80'S JUST LEFT THERE TO RUST. VERY INTERESTING. THEN CROSSED THE SAN JUAQUIN AND DROVE THROUGH THE LITTLE TOWN OF RIPON. CLEAN LITTLE TOWN. ANOTHER LITTLE TOWN UP THE ROAD I DROVE THROUGH WAS FARMINGTON EAST OF STOCKTON. TOWN CONSISTS OF ABOUT SIX BUILDINGS, MOST INTERESTING IS GENERAL STORE DRUGSTORE. BUILDING BUILT IN 1880'S APPEARS, INTERESTING THING IS WHOLE BUILDING LEANS TO ONE SIDE, IT HAS 4X4 POSTS ANCHORED TO GROUND TO KEEP IT FROM LEANING MORE. BUT IT IS STILL IN USE AS A STORE. WILL ADD MORE LATER
